Winona Oratorio Chorus
Conducted by Dr. Harry Mechell, the WOC will be joined by professional vocal soloists and instrumentalists.
The Winona Oratorio Chorus is an auditioned ensemble of community members, Winona State University faculty and staff, and college students who are unified by their love of singing.
Members are of all ages and walks of life who simply want to bring great choral music to the Winona community.
The choir performs two major choral works with an orchestra each season.
How do I join?
Membership is open to all college students and community members. An audition with Dr. Harry Mechell is required.
Rehearsals take place every Monday evening at the Winona State University Performing Arts Center from 7-9 p.m. Additional rehearsals may take place as the concert date approaches.
The chorus was established in 1980 by Dr. Paul Rusterholz. Dr. Linnell Moss conducted the ensemble from 1991-1997. Dr. Mechell has been the director since 1998.
The choir performs twice a season, once in both the fall and spring. Please visit our “Upcoming Concerts” page to find out what we are preparing!
